Hey everybody!! Welcome to my Riley page for my SENIOR year!!
I am on the BSUDM Executive Board as the Co-Director of the Marketing and Communciations committee with Adam Van Dam (WOOHOO)!! Having the honor to be in a leadership position for BSUDM makes my last and final year the best of the best. This is my fourth and final year being apart of Ball State Dance Marathon and I am dedicated to be More Than A Marathon and be apart of an organization that won't stop until Dance Marathons no longer exist. BSUDM truly holds a special place in my heart and has impacted my college experience in so many ways. BSUDM has offered so many opportunties for myself and helped me grow in my passion for Riley Hospital for Children. Before I tell you a little about why I DM, let me explain what BSUDM specifically raises money for Riley's Hospital for Children.
The two main programs funded by BSUDM at Riley are the Magic Cart Castle and the Paliative Care Team. We are able to fully fund the Magic Cart Castle which goes around Riley and visits the kids! The Cart has little gifts on it to raise each child's spirits and give them a small dose of Happiness. These gifts include things such as stuffed animals, puzzles, books, etc.
The Paliative Care Team focuses more on patients who have life-limiting or life-threatening conditions. Their main goal is to improve their quality of life in whatever way the child and their family views as having a good life. This can range anywhere from never stepping foot into a hospital ever again, to graduating high school or even playing a baseball game. The Paliative Care Team is able to act as mediators between a family and their medical team to find the best treatment options to keep the child healthy while living a fulfilling life.
Not only do I DM to make these two programs possible but for my family. Several of my family members have been affected by diseases and have received help from Riley or have passion to help Riley including my Grandma, Nana and Uncle Chris. I could not imagine not having these important people in my life today. They have made a tremendous impact on my life and helped shape me to be the person I am today. I DM for the kids who will later become someone ele's family, role models and best friends.
My goal is to raise $1750 this year by the end of the marathon. I'm hoping to go above and beyond my previous years goals to make a difference for those who are just working to live day to day. Miracles are made each and every day at Riley and I want to be apart of them. With hardwork and dedication, we can make it possible to end the need for Dance marathon's everywhere.
Any and all donations are welcome but just even reading this page helps spread the awareness to one more person! Thank you and remember FTK!
