Unfortunately, the COVID-19 pandemic has once again forced the closure of all tournaments at Rideau View Golf Club this year, and as a result, the 2021 Inspirational Classic will not take place in its physical form. However, we hope you will consider supporting mental health research at The Royal via an online donation.
The need for funding for mental health research has never been greater. As the COVID-19 pandemic continues to rage on, people are forced into isolation and economic turmoil. This uncertainty can cause psychological distress. A recent study stated that 67 per cent on Ontarians feel that the mental health impact is going to be serious and long lasting while 59 per cent of parents have noted behavioral changes in their child ranging from outbursts or extreme irritability to drastic changes in mood, behavior or personality, difficulty sleeping as well as persistent sadness.
In April 2021, Rideau View member Ken Parent tragically lost his son Andrew. He was one of the many who suffered from the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic.
As you may know, the money raised through the Inspirational Classic is used to further Dr. Zachary Kaminsky's suicide prevention research at The Royal's Institute of Mental Health Research. In our first three years hosting this event, the Classic has raised over $300,000 for mental health research and we refuse to let the challenges of the pandemic slow us down.
We invite you to join us once again, by contributing to the 2021 Inspirational Classic through our donation page. Every dollar raised brings us one step closer to helping The Royal and Dr. Kaminsky realize their dreams of successfully developing methods to predict suicidal thoughts, and thus reduce the number of completed suicides – saving more lives each and every year.
