What is this?

When you make a gift to the San Diego Humane Society, you join us in our mission to promote the humane treatment of animals, prevent cruelty to animals, and provide education to enhance the human-animal bond. You will now become a valued member of our online community and receive our e-newsletter and special updates about the animals in our care. You may unsubscribe at any time.

Where does your money go?

You save lives of sick, injured, neglected, or abused animals when you make a gift to San Diego Humane Society. Our goal is to end animal suffering in San Diego and we do so by rescuing, rehabilitating, and re-homing more than 20,000 animals annually. You make it possible for us to provide medical treatment, perform lifesaving surgeries, conduct cruelty investigations, and educate adults and children about responsible pet ownership.

  • Adoptions

Adoptions are at the center of everything we do. Getting animals into homes and helping to keep them there is the best way to impact the tragedy of animal homelessness, something we're vigorously committed to.

  • Animal Rescue Reserve

Disaster strikes without warning, often leaving our pets exposed, trapped, afraid and hurt. The Animal Rescue Reserve is a group of specially-trained staff and volunteers equipped to rescue animals threatened by natural and man-made disasters and other emergency situations.

  • Community Programs & Education

Whether it's through youth or adult education, or by providing food and medical care to pet owners to allow them to keep their animals, our programs foster education, compassion, and assistance for the community.

  • Humane Law Enforcement

Humane Law Enforcement pursues cases of animal cruelty and neglect, enforces state animal welfare laws, educates the public on proper care of animals, and rescues animals from emergency situations. They bring hope to animals and provide a voice to those who cannot speak for themselves.

  • Kitten Nursery

The Kitten Nursery takes in and cares for kittens from shelters who do not have the space or resources to provide around-the-clock care that very young, orphaned kittens require.

  • Medical Treatment

The Veterinary Medical Department provides life-saving specialized surgeries, long-term rehabilitation, and progressive treatment to thousands of animals each year.

  • PAWS San Diego

PAWS San Diego provides essential pet services and support to low-income seniors, chronically ill, and disabled individuals. This vital community service is the official safety net program of the San Diego Humane Society and SPCA.

  • Project Wildlife

San Diego Humane Society is proud to have merged with Project Wildlife in 2014. We will maintain Project Wildlife's vital programs and services. Your donation will be used for our key programs: saving native wild animals that have come to us orphaned, injured, or ill, and educating the public about how they can protect native animal species in our communities.

  • Spay/Neuter Program

Our spay/neuter program provides accessible and affordable spay/neuter resources, and is the only way we can seriously impact the problem of pet overpopulation.

Be a Constant Companion:

When you support our vital work with a monthly commitment, you truly are a lifesaver. This year, more than 20,000 animals will depend on San Diego Humane Society for a second chance. Thanks to your recurring monthly gift as a Constant Companion, you will ensure we have the resources necessary to give every animal food, shelter, and medical care.
