Many of you know that we are raising our fourth Southeastern Guide Dog! We started raising guide dog puppies in 2015 when Anders, who was 15, introduced us to the program. Anders felt this was how she could give back to her community on her own and really help someone with sight or suffering from PTSD. How could we say no?
Nine years later, we are still part of the Tampa Area Puppy Group, dedicating our time in service with amazing friends. We are raising Juno, an energetic, beautiful girl who just celebrated her first birthday. Captain, doggo #3, is thriving in Texas as a bomb and arson dog for a sheriff’s department. And Sparks, as you know, is chose not to work and keeps us balanced and happy at home.
Although goodbyes are never easy, we are so grateful when our team’s doggos are matched with a disabled adult or child who so desperately need our pups.
Did you know that Southeastern Guide Dogs breeds, raises, and trains some of the finest guide dogs, service dogs, and skilled companion dogs in the world AT NO CHARGE? The puppies are adorable, but to witness these amazing dogs at work is nothing short of miraculous. Thanks to the intelligence and fine training of these dogs, people with vision loss, veterans with disabilities, and children with significant challenges find the freedom, confidence, and independence they need.
Southeastern Guide Dogs relies on donations and doesn't charge a penny for their dogs or services, I decided to participate in their biggest fundraiser of the year - Walkathon! I've set an ambitious fundraising goal and I am excited to contribute to the life changing mission of Southeastern Guide Dogs. Join me by making a small contribution to our team in honor of someone special to you.
