Getting There


Event Location

RBC Race for the Kids will be held at Mel Lastman Square (5100 Yonge Street) in North York. The nearest major intersection is Yonge St. and Sheppard Ave.

Important Transportation Update:

Race Morning, Saturday, September 21st:

Please note, there will be a subway closure on race morning, Saturday, September 21, on Line 1 between St. Clair and York Mills. Shuttle buses will be available. Please plan for extra time to get to Mel Lastman Square for 8:00 am in time for the start of the race.

Rideshare Drop-Off Information:

Race Morning, Saturday, September 21st:

For rideshare drop-off’s, please note that Yonge St will be closed between Sheppard and Drewry/Cummer. The best spot to request for drop-off would be:

  • From the East: Doris Ave & Hillcrest Ave.
  • From the West: Beecroft Rd & Elmhurst Ave or Beecroft Rd & Park Home Ave.
  • From the South: Doris Ave & Hillcrest Ave.
  • From the North: Beecroft Rd & Park Home Ave or Doris Ave & Hillcrest Ave.
Please plan accordingly to ensure a smooth arrival. We look forward to seeing you at the race!

TTC

There are a few different TTC options available to you on race day:

  • Subway - Mel Lastman Square is located at North York Centre Station on the Yonge/University/Spadina subway line. The subway begins service at 6:00 a.m.
  • Bus -Take the 320 Yonge St. bus to North York Civic Centre. The bus runs 24 hours a day.
  • Walk - A 15 minute walk from Finch Subway Station - note: parking at Finch station is free.

  • All lanes will be closed
5:00 a.m. -10:30 a.m.
3. Finch Ave. at Yonge St.
  • No thoroughfare across Yonge St.
  • Note Yonge St. full closure below.
  • Motorists are encouraged to use Drewry Ave./Cummer Ave orSheppard Ave.
 7:30 a.m. -10:30 a.m.
4. Yonge St. between Park Home Ave. and North York Blvd.
  • All southbound lanes are closed.
  • Motorists are encouraged to use other parallel north-south arteries as detours
5:00 a.m. -1:00 p.m.
5. Yonge St. between Sheppard Ave. & Drewry Ave./Cummer Ave
  • All northbound and southbound lanes will be closed with the following exception:
    • All northbound lanes open from Turnberry Ct.
    • Southbound curb lane open from Drewey Ave. for access up to TTC Drop-off at Finch Station.
7:45 a.m. -10:45 a.m.

For residents that live in the Yonge & Finch area, please use the following routes to cross Finch:

East of Yonge

  • Use Doris Ave. or Willowdale Ave. to reach Cummer Ave. or Sheppard Ave.
  • Use Cummer Ave. to access Yonge St. northbound.
  • Use Sheppard Ave. to access Yonge St. southbound.
  • Use Willowdale Ave. to access TTC parking lot.

West of Yonge

  • Use Senlac Rd. for north-south travel.
  • Use Senlac Rd. to reach Finch Ave. or Sheppard Ave.
  • Use Sheppard Ave. to access Yonge St. southbound
  • Finch Ave. will be open west of Beecroft Rd.
  • Use Hendon Ave. from Talbot Rd. to reach Hendon Park
  • Use Talbot Rd. to access TTC parking lot.
