Invent the future for youth with mental illness
Research tells us that 1.2 million Canadian children and teens struggle with mental health issues. It also tells us that fewer than 20% get the timely treatment they need. Our researchers are working on ways to understand, treat and prevent mental illness for everyone. Behind the statistics are families, who, while trying to find the help their children need, day to day are just trying to make it through. Despite more awareness of the importance of mental health, there is still stigma. Only about 30% of Ontario youth who report feeling anxiety reach out for help. Most families, moreover, don't know where to get help. The Family Navigation Project helps families get the right help at the right time. It is having an impact now. This is why I am supporting it and asking you to join me in this support.
Welcome to Team SRI in the Sunnybrook Executive Challenge! We’re raising funds for youth mental health by participating in the 2019 RBC Race for the Kids, a 5k walk/run or 10K run on September 14, 2019 in support of Sunnybrook’s Family Navigation Project.
This is our chance to make a life-changing difference in the lives of young people, and show the Sunnybrook community which team is the biggest, the fastest and the most successful at fundraising – and that’s Team SRI!
