To assist New Orleans families in need during the ongoing COVID-19 crisis, please join Blue Runner Foods to help provide every Crescent City resident’s favorite Monday meal – red beans and rice – to Second Harvest Food Bank.
Blue Runner launched the campaign on April 3rd by donating 25,000 pounds of dry beans and rice to Second Harvest.
Second Harvest serves 23 parishes across South Louisiana through various avenues including providing emergency boxes, delivering hot meals to seniors in need, sending food to agency partners and food pantries, and to distribute directly through their mobile pantries.
Along with today’s donation of 100,000 meals, Blue Runner Foods is asking for the community’s support to increase contributions to Second Harvest Food Bank. All contributions will go directly to Second Harvest Food Bank and every dollar contributed will help provide four meals.
“This crisis is affecting everyone from restaurant workers to hotel workers to small business owners and everyone in between,” said Blue Runner Foods president Ricky Thomas. “We believe those in a position to help should pitch in, so we’re doing what we can by donating product to help feed the people of New Orleans.”
