Christmas Emergency - Will You Help?

This Christmas season, you can help restore hope for people like Henry and Olivia.

Sadly, during this season of hope, many find it slipping away. Blessed by the same power of God that made the Virgin Mary a mother at Christmas, your gift will help Sacred Heart Southern Missions restore hope for those who suffer in Mississippi, the poorest state in the nation. Here are just two of the many men, women and children who have come to us for help in north Mississippi.

As a result of his illness, Henry is wheelchair-bound. When his old trailer’s porch became unstable he lost his only way out. His home has no ramp. He’s trapped, with no way to do things we take for granted. He cannot shop for groceries, reach his mailbox or seek medical help.

A 73-year-old widow, Olivia’s only son was killed in Vietnam. Between social security and a small pension she only receives $680 a month. Over half of that pays her trailer's mortgage. The cost of her mother's recent funeral exhausted her small savings account. After her 84-year-old uncle moved in next to her trailer and began tapping into her electric and water lines, she can’t cover her mortgage and her utilities. “I’m behind, but I can't turn my uncle away. What will I do?”

Give now, to help people like Olivia and Henry this Christmas.

From hot meals and gently used clothing to a Catholic education, from temporary financial aid and home repair to spiritual support, your gifts make all the difference in the lives of those we help. Thank you for your generosity this last year. During this Christmas Season and throughout 2014, may the Sacred Heart bless and keep you. Please pray for us and the people who ask us for help.
