WHY SHOULD YOU VOLUNTEER?
GetLoud is back, and this year we want to get even louder. We need Volunteer Crew members leading up to the event and on event day to help us make some serious noise. Committed Volunteer Crew members are what will make this event happen. That’s why we need you.

COMMITMENT OF A GETLOUD VOLUNTEER CREW MEMBER
Attend a Volunteer Crew Orientation & Screening Session
at SickKids Foundation Office (525 University Ave)
All new Volunteer Crew: are required to attend a mandatory 1.5 hour Volunteer Crew Orientation & Screening session with SickKids Foundation in order to be eligible to volunteer at this event. New Volunteer Crew members will be asked to select an orientation date when they register for GetLoud (several date and time options are available to choose from).
*Please note, due to overwhelming interest in Volunteer Crew positions at this event, event roles will only be assigned to Volunteer Crew members who successfully complete the orientation and screening session. If you are unable to attend any of the orientation session dates, it is your responsibility to reach out to the SickKids Volunteer Engagement Team as soon as possible.
Returning volunteers will be e-mailed access to a returning volunteer guide and online training links. Volunteer crew members can read this guide and complete the links anytime that is convenient for them (volunteers are encouraged to read this guide a minimum of 2 weeks before the event).
Attend the All-Volunteer Crew Meeting - Friday, September 25, 2020
The Bandshell 60 Prince Edward Island Crescent, Toronto ON
This is your chance to meet your Volunteer Captain and the rest of your volunteer team and also learn about your role-specific involvement on event day, whether that’s along the route or during the festival. The All-Volunteer Crew Meeting will take place in the evening (after school & work hours) and all Volunteer Crew members will be provided with a delicious meal, and receive their event day supplies.

Location will vary depending on your assigned role (The Bandshell 60 Prince Edward Island Crescent OR For York 100 Garrison Road).
Rain or shine, we will be there, on the frontlines, for an extraordinary event! On event day, you’ll receive your GetLoud Volunteer Crew T-shirt. Your meals for the day, and all of your other needs, will be taken care of by the SickKids Foundation Volunteer Engagement Team - while you help our participants make some serious noise for SickKids.
We all have a part to play in supporting SickKids. That’s why we are asking all volunteers to join us in fundraising! To help you hit your fundraising goal ($100 suggested fundraising goal for all Volunteer Crew) you will have access to lots of tools, tips and tricks in your own participant centre. If you’re looking for volunteer hours, you can also earn extra hours by reaching your fundraising goal!
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
The first step to joining our volunteer team is registering (volunteers must be ages 14+). Once you’ve registered you will be contacted by our volunteer team and asked to indicate your role preferences. A decision on your assigned role will be based on your interests, ability to perform the tasks required, and available opportunities.
Definitely! We require all volunteers to complete the volunteer registration process on our website first. When you register please include the names of any other volunteers you would like to be placed with.
Yes, and you can even fundraise as a group too! We encourage groups of colleagues, classmates, friends, and families to join us as volunteers. Depending on the size, and interest of your group, we can place you in the same volunteer role so that you can all work together on event day. Whether your group is looking to give back to your community, or looking for a team bonding opportunity, group volunteering is a great way to have fun and work with others. Please contact the SickKids Foundation Volunteer Engagement Team (volunteers@GetLoudforSickKids.ca) if you’d like assistance registering your group.
Yes, you can volunteer and participate in the Corporate Challenge with your co-workers and challenge other industry professionals to a friendly competition in support of SickKids. Volunteer Crew fundraising can be counted towards the corporate challenge. If you’d like your fundraising to be part of the corporate challenge, please let us know. Get ready to compete, and confirm your standing as a leader in your industry.
GetLoud volunteer crew roles do not require that you have any previous volunteer experience, unless otherwise indicated.
Your Volunteer Captain is a GetLoud Volunteer leader who works closely with the SickKids Foundation Volunteer Engagement Team to prepare for the event. Your Captain will be your main point of contact for updates and information relating specifically to your volunteer role. Captains help the SickKids Volunteer Engagement Team communicate event details, answer your questions, and support you as a volunteer on event day. As the GetLoud event date approaches and you receive your volunteer role assignment, you will receive communications from your Volunteer Captain to help ensure you are ready and prepared to volunteer.
Yes. Volunteer confirmation letters will be emailed automatically to all Jr. Volunteer Crew members (volunteers age 14-17 years old) after the event. We can also provide letters to any Volunteer Crew members upon request, following the event. Volunteers requiring signed letters can bring forms on event day and receive signatures when signing out. Volunteers can receive up to 25 hours for participating in the Volunteer Orientation, All Crew Volunteer Meeting, and GetLoud Event Day.
Just like participants, we are asking all volunteers to support SickKids and help us reach our fundraising goal. If you have questions about how to fundraise, check out our website for fundraising tools, tips and tricks.
Upon registration, you’ll receive a survey in which you will have the opportunity to request to work in a particular role including, and not limited to, the Participant Check In Team, Welcome and Victory Team, Donation Team, Parking and Safety Squad or many more roles.
The volunteer crew registration fee will cover your event expenses as a volunteer crew member, such as your meals, t-shirt, access to event activities, and a variety of other operational event day expenses. By paying a nominal registration fee, we can ensure the most money possible is contributed towards fundraising for the Hospital.
Yes! All new volunteer crew members will be asked to attend a mandatory 1.5 hour Volunteer Crew Orientation & Screening session with SickKids Foundation in order to be eligible to volunteer at this event. At this session you will receive information about the various event roles at GetLoud, and training on how to be a successful SickKids GetLoud volunteer crew member. Returning volunteer crew members will receive an online training which will be e-mailed to them after registering and can be watched at anytime leading up to GetLoud.
All volunteer crew members will also receive role specific training at the All- Volunteer Crew Meeting, and an event day refresher from their Crew Captains.
No formal qualifications are required to join as a volunteer crew member. At SickKids Foundation, we are looking for volunteer crew that are committed to joining us on event day, excited to support the cause, and flexible to support a variety of roles! Role specific training to help you prepare for event day will be provided to all volunteers.
Volunteer hours will vary depending on assigned role. We ask that all volunteers leave their availability open for the full event day (7:00am-5:00pm so we have the flexibility to schedule you in the roles we need supported) but volunteers will be notified closer to event day on their exact hours.
If you are unable to attend the All-Crew Meeting it is your responsibility to notify the Volunteer Engagement Team and your Crew Captain as soon as possible so alternative arrangements can be made.
