The Wilbur Charles Martin III “Chuck” memorial scholarship fund is to honor the life and dedication of beloved Saginaw Valley State University alumnus Wilbur Charles Martin III, better known as Chuck.
He began his studies at Saginaw Valley in 2004.He was an integral part of SVSU and the student experience during his time at the University, and those who attended college with him can attest to his infectious personality and positive energy. Many may remember him as a member of the SVSU football team, a member of the student organization “Organization of Black Unity” (OBU), where he served as President when the organization was resurrected in 2008 or one third of the promotion and entertainment business “3 Kings, LLC” who hosted the unforgettable annual Ice Breaker activities.
He was not only an entrepreneur who started several business ventures during his time at SVSU, he was also one with a heart for giving back. As a student he worked as an officer with the Wolverine Juvenile Detention Center, as an unofficial University photographer capturing many moments and events on and off campus in support of SVSU and the Saginaw community as a while. After graduating with a degree in Criminal Justice he continued his efforts working in the Juvenile Detention field back in his hometown of Detroit, MI. Chuck's last entrepreneurial business endeavor was Martin's Property Services LLC, as certified building and construction contractor and property manager for Southeast Michigan.
The Wilbur Charles Martin III “Chuck” Endowment will create an endowed annual scholarship to help fund future SVSU students so that Chuck’s legacy and impact can live forever. |
