How do we receive a tax receipt?

Schools will receive an unofficial tax receipt by mail acknowledging your donation to Variety BC.

Parents and supporters who require an official tax receipt can receive one from Variety BC in a couple different ways:

a) Fundraise Online! When you donate to a student or school’s online fundraising page, you will immediately be e-mailed your tax receipt.

b) Send Variety a Personal Cheque: Write your school’s name in the cheque memo, and we’ll add your donation to your school’s total! A tax receipt will be mailed to you. Please ensure your name and mailing address are printed on your cheque. Cheques can be made payable to Variety – the Children’s Charity and mailed with attention to VARIETY SCHOOLS:

4300 Still Creek Drive, Burnaby
British Columbia, Canada V5C 6C6

What should our fundraising goal be?

Variety BC supports kids by providing funding through our 5 pillars: Adaptive and Mobility Equipment, Mental Wellness, Private Assessments, Specialized Therapies, and Tuition & Tutoring.

The average grant size for individual youth receiving support from Variety in 2022 was $2,500.00.

When you donate $1,047 or more, your school can receive recognition by having its name printed on one of our Sunshine Coaches.

Every penny counts, and together we are stronger! If just five schools set a modest $500 fundraising goal, we can change a life forever.

In other words, your school’s fundraising goal is completely up to you! Let us know if you need assistance with action planning and goal setting – our fundraising team is here to help.

Can we participate if we are located outside of BC?

Of course! Donations made through the Variety Schools program support children in British Columbia. It doesn’t matter where you’re located, we welcome your support with enthusiasm! Gifts made to Variety - the Children's Charity of BC are kept within the province of British Columbia.

How do we book a visit to our school by Variety?

Variety BC offers free classroom workshops and school assemblies to help you plan and celebrate your fundraising events! Email Anna Polden at anna.polden@variety.bc.ca to inquire on opportunities to bring Variety BC to your school or visit our websiteto see when we’ll be touring through your neighbourhood!

Will we find out how our donation helped?

Absolutely! Your school will receive a report explaining exactly how your donations were used to help kids in your community. Let us know if there is a specific area you wish to support so we can designate your funds appropriately!
