Initiated in 2003, the Carolinas Muscular Dystrophy Research Endowment is dedicated to supporting research for select types of muscular dystrophy, particularly Limb Girdle, which is currently being conducted in the McColl-Lockwood Laboratory for Muscular Dystrophy Research at Carolinas Medical Center, directed by Qi Long Lu, MD, PhD.
The mission of the McColl-Lockwood Laboratory for Musclar Dystrophy Research is to develop experimental therapies for the treatment of the muscular dystrophies and to facilitate the translation of experimental therapies to clinical trials in order to improve the quality of life for patients with the disease.
