Research is hope. The hope of a treatment that will cure cancer or prolong the life of someone battling it.
I am pursuing this quest in the honor of my beautiful sister Sarah, who is a survivor of metastatic breast cancer and in memory of my superhuman aunt Anne, who lost a 40 day fight against acute myeloid leukaemia last fall.
Last May, thanks to everyone’s donations and my strong determination, I successfully completed a Cancer Research Society (CRS) challenge that took place on the Amalfi Coast in Italy. It was such an enriching experience. We all had our own personal stories related to cancer, which contributed greatly to our solidarity! We hiked in sunshine and torrential rain, tolerating heat as well as humidity and cold. A total of 7 days of hiking, 97,961 steps, 724 floors and 90 km were covered.
Since the need for research is great and this cause is very dear to me, I've signed up for the CRS Challenge Corsica G20 in September 2024. The physical challenge will be greater, and I'm confident I'll succeed!
Thank you for continuing to support me and the efforts of all those working in research! As a devoted nurse and leader of the CIUSSS West Central of the island of Montreal, I am honoured to see a Physician colleague, Dr Basik, receive a large grant from the CRS. Every step, no matter how small, is a step in the right direction!
Together, we'll make it!
