The Lutterman family lost their husband and father from pancreatic cancer on July 28th, twenty one years ago today. He was 63 years old. The Cancer Research Society is honoured to have partnered with the Lutterman family in the fight against this aggressive cancer; together, we are determined to outsmart cancer.
“It’s impossible to measure the life of a man, even the great ones like my dad. It’s enough to say that he was taken too soon from us, and to try to live fully with the knowledge that his lessons, his humour, his huge unconditional love for family have been gifted to us as a part of his legacy.
Of course my brother Joel and I know we are also his legacy in action. But more importantly still, our amazing kids are Rob’s legacy that keeps on giving—each of them forging their own way, and each one uniquely “bien dans sa peau.”
Today especially, I am thinking about Rob. And today especially, I celebrate his life, recommit to living and loving large with everything I have, and to sharing “Rob stories” with family and friends.
When we lost Rob to pancreatic cancer, our family and friends launched a fund to raise important money for pancreatic cancer research, which is a deadly disease. In partnership with the Cancer Research Society, we have awarded nearly 1.5 million dollars to scientists and doctors working for treatment and a cure. The Rob Lutterman Memorial - Ski for a Cure Fund is open year-round, and will accept donations at www.skiforacure.ca Feel free to send a little something to honour those we have loved and lost, too soon to this crippling disease. Along with my dad, these include: John Lewis, Aretha Franklin, Sally Ride, Patrick Swayze, Alan Rickman, Michael Landon, Lorraine Hansberry and so many more.” – Randy Lutterman, Daughter of Rob Lutterman
The Rob Lutterman Ski for a Cure committee and the entire team at the Cancer Research Society wish to extend our most sincere condolences to the family and friends of Karen Hawley, a precious and beloved volunteer and supporter of the Ski for a Cure event and the Cancer Research Society for over 20 years who passed away much to soon, on December 23rd 2020.
