My Running Journey
My running journey started late in life. I was 49 years old and had never run a mile. A few friends that had run in the past challenged me to join them for a Disney 1/2 Marathon. My first training run I barely completed a mile. It was at that point I knew this was going to be a life changing journey. After seven months of training and a few 5ks, I completed my first 1/2 marathon. I wasn't sure if I was elated or exhausted but I knew I finished. As my journey continued I would seek out charity runs. What better way to give back while doing something I enjoy. There have been many other races since then but I am most proud to have finish the Marine Corp Marathon with my lifelong friend in honor of his father.
When they announced that Disneyland was bringing back the Run Disney Events I was excited. I have run many Run Disney events in Florida but never in California. I immediately went online to secure a spot with an official Run Disney charity partner. As a lifelong Patriots fan and having family and friends who have been taken away by heart disease or stroke, it was an easy choice to join Tedy's Team. I am proud to have been selected to join the team and look forward to many more miles to help stroke victims and their families.
Now I have the chance to run with this great team again at the WDW Wine&Dine Challange in November. When Tedy's team announed they were coming back to Florida I said yes that day. Being 1500 miles away from the main office in Boston I dont get the chance to join the team for their weekly runs and volunter for the many comunity events they sponser, but I still remain a part of this organization in the best way I can through their charity events.
I am once again challenging you to help make a diffrence in the lives of anyone ever effected by stroke.
Thank you for your donation.
