Born in Gujarat, India in 1929, our beloved mother, grandmother and great grandmother Madhukanta Amin grew up in Mumbai. In the early 1950s she graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree majoring in Sanskrit. She married Anubhai Amin in July 1952, moved to Kenya (Africa) in 1953 where they started their careers as teachers; leading happy, simple and humble lives and raising their family. They immigrated to Toronto (Canada) in 1981. She enjoyed reading, keeping abreast of current affairs in the news and spending time with her family and friends. At 90 years old, she was a beautiful, loving, strong, courageous, independent and resilient person who will be missed dearly.
Predeceased by her husband Anubhai Amin she is survived by her three children - Smita (Rohit), Dakshesh (Latika), Priti (Nimish); six grandchildren - Sejal (Shetal), Dhiren (Pooja), Ronish, Shreena, Sonia, Neil; three great grandchildren - Shreeya, Ashna and Lilly.
