12th Annual Amanda Hichkad CCA Celebration Walk
"My mom is the reason why I walk. We lost her to a very short battle with cancer in 2017. It has been an honor and pleasure to be a team captain for the last 7 years. Raising money for our community, cancer patients and their families give me nothing but joy!"
- Danielle Schwandtner, Team Captain for the Amanda Hichkad CCA Celebration Walk
Who is this Walk named in memory of?
This event is named after a beloved Bel Air resident, wife, and mother of three, Amanda Hichkad, who received treatment at the Patricia D. & M. Scot Kaufman Cancer Center at UM Upper Chesapeake Health in Bel Air, Maryland. She was also a utilizer and advocate for Cancer LifeNet and believed in the impact that Cancer LifeNet and its variety of free of charge services can have on someone going through the battle of a cancer diagnosis.
She wanted to ensure that her legacy was creating a way to help fundraise for Cancer LifeNet so that its staff could continue having a tremendous impact on the lives of her friends and neighbors in the Harford and Cecil County, Maryland communities who rely on the services of Cancer LifeNet, just like she did. Thus, the Amanda Hichkad CCA Celebration Walk was born in 2014. All of the proceeds from the Amanda Hichkad CCA Celebration Walk go back to supporting Cancer LifeNet and its nearly 300 unique programs and services that have helped impact the lives of over 22,000 of our friends and neighbors, just like Amanda.
With your help, we will create a movement leading up to and on Walk Day by celebrating and honoring our loved ones who have faced the battle of a cancer diagnosis, while also walking to raise critical funds to help Cancer LifeNet.
