Welcome to Bowen Strong
My name is Rebekah Bowen, and in April 2020, I was diagnosed with stage 1 triple-positive breast cancer at the age of 29. I went through 6 rounds of chemotherapy, had a double mastectomy in October 2020, reconstruction surgery in March 2021, and had maintenance chemo infusions until May 2021. I will also be on hormone therapy for a total of 5 years. Thanks to my family and friends, I was able to get through the worst year of my life and can now say I am cancer-free. We put our faith and trust in Jesus and feel that this experience has made us stronger. Like 1 Peter 5:10 says, After your season of suffering, God in all His grace will restore, confirm, strengthen, and establish you. With this newfound strength, I feel the call to help support other men and women going through their own cancer journeys. I believe that early detection and screening are so important for breast cancer. This is why I will be participating in The Miracle Mile Walk.
The Miracle Mile Walk supports University Hospital’s Randy W. Cooper, M.D., Center for Breast Health Services and Mobile Mammography Unit, which provide life-saving screenings to women in our community regardless of their ability to pay. No woman is ever turned away from the mobile unit. Dr. Cooper was also my surgeon and the doctor who diagnosed my cancer. My goal is to raise $1,000 to support this cause. If you feel led to give or participate, it will be greatly appreciated and will get my team and me one step closer to reaching our fundraising goal.
Your support is so appreciated!
Thank you so much,
Rebekah Bowen
