"Life is Good", as Roon would always say...

My husband, best friend, and amazing dad, Michael was a patient at the University of Ottawa Heart Institute for more than 15 years.  Michael passed away suddenly in 2011 at the age of 52. 

Since 2012, a group of walkers and runners, made up of family, friends and colleagues have challenged themselves to achieve a distance goal and raise funds for the Ottawa Heart Institute as part of the Run For Roon. Together we have had a lot of fun and raised over $102,000 for the Michael Rooney and Family Endowment Fund with the Ottawa Heart Institute Foundation.  

I know that Michael would be so proud of us all and pleased to see how we have continued to support the Heart Institute in such meaningful ways. 

While we won't have a formal Team at Ottawa Race Weekend in 2022, the Run For Roon continues, as we all recognize the importance of the Ottawa Heart Institute and the amazing work they do.  On May 29th, I will be lacing up to run (and maybe walk a bit) the 1/2 marathon in memory of Michael and to support the Ottawa Heart Institute.  Roon - you are still missed xxoo.
