To Vermont elected officials
Dependence on imported fossil fuels drains money out of Vermont and keeps us from doing our part to tackle global warming. By lowering taxes on things like income, employment and sales, and putting a gradually rising tax on carbon pollution, Vermont can transition off fossil fuels and toward clean energy. Please:> Invest in Clean Energy & Efficiency InnovationsAn Energy Independence Fund will incentivize energy efficiency projects, fuel efficient vehicles, and renewable energy to save Vermonters money.>Create Jobs Keeping more of our energy dollars in Vermont will spur job creation, encourage business growth and raise incomes.>Cut and Reform TaxesVermont should cut taxes on things Vermonters want more of -- like income, employment and sales. And we should tax what we don't want: global warming pollution.>Protect Low- and Middle-Income VermontersEnsure all Vermonters can be part of the transition away from fossil fuels by funding low-income weatherization and rebates.
