Petition to Vermont Elected Officials:
Cut carbon pollution. Save money!

Energy Independent Vermont proposes that Governor Phil Scott and the General Assembly cut taxes in areas such as income, employment, property or sales; invest in energy-saving innovations; and put a price on carbon pollution paid for by the fossil fuel companies.

Add your name to the petition calling for bold climate action, now!

It's time for Vermont to take bold action for our environment and economy.

To Vermont elected officials

Dependence on imported fossil fuels drains money out of Vermont and keeps us from doing our part to tackle global warming. By lowering taxes on things like income, employment, sales and/or property, and putting a gradually rising price on carbon pollution, Vermont can transition off fossil fuels and toward clean energy.

Please support tax reform that includes a price on carbon pollution that will:

- Strengthen the economy by discouraging the import of fossil fuels from distant states and countries at a cost of about $2 billion each year.

- Encourage conservation, efficiency and locally generated renewable energy.

- Keep more of our energy dollars local, spurring innovation and creating jobs.

- Prioritize low- and middle-income Vermonters by offering progressive tax relief and

- Cut carbon pollution

Sincerely,
[Your Name]
