Send Gov. Scott a message - Thank you for participating in the regional Transportation & Climate Initiative (TCI)

Your unstoppable force pushed an immovable object into action. Thanks to your polite, but tireless, pressure on the governor and legislature, Vermont has moved forward with the regional Transportation & Climate Initiative (TCI) coalition.

The TCI coalition of nine states plus Washington D.C. aims to create a "regional low-carbon transportation policy proposal that would cap and reduce carbon emissions from the combustion of transportation fuels through a cap-and-invest program".

There are a lot of details to work out, but this is the type of action we have been fighting for.

This is the beginning of a process, not the end of it. It's important that Vermonters are engaged every step of the way to make sure that the TCI program strengthens the Vermont economy, protects the most vulnerable, and reduces carbon pollution — AND to make certain that the Scott Administration lives up to their commitment.

Your message today will help the TCI process get off on the right foot.

Use this page to add your name to a thank you note to Governor Phil Scott — thanking him for participating in TCI and asking him to engage the General Assembly and the public throughout the entirety of the process in a way that is accessible, transparent, and grounded in good policy — not politics.

Thank you for participating in the Transportation & Climate Initiative

Dear Gov. Phil Scott

Thank you for engaging in the Transportation & Climate Initiative (TCI). As the Trump administration abandons America's leadership in the battle against climate change, the bipartisan TCI effort to design a regional low-carbon transportation policy proposal that would cap and reduce carbon emissions from the combustion of transportation fuels through a cap-and-invest program or other pricing mechanism is a step in the right direction.

It is critical that Vermont not only participate in this process, but that we help lead. As the TCI process progresses in 2019, I urge you to engage the General Assembly and Vermont stakeholders in ways that are accessible and transparent. Further, it is my hope that the process will be grounded in policy, not political, considerations.

While the negative impacts of climate change are huge, addressing those risks and meeting Vermont's climate commitments offers significant opportunities to strengthen the Vermont economy and prioritize the most vulnerable.

Sincerely,
