Mallards lay large clutches of 10-14 eggs, and the baby ducklings are precocial, meaning they are able to forage for themselves very soon after hatching. But the hazards for ducklings are numerous and often whole broods need rescue.	Mallard duckling orphans at WildCare need brooder-boxes that offer both dry and wet areas for the little fuzzy ones to use while they grow feathers, gain weight and learn to swim.
