Moving the dial for the health and well-being of Black Canadians
Anti-Black racism is a public health crisis. Black communities continue to face disproportionate challenges when it comes to their health. Across Canada, people are falling through the health gaps created by a system that is overburdened and struggling to meet the unique needs of marginalized and vulnerable populations. Inherent biases within our healthcare system are making matters worse.
As a leader in advancing equitable access to healthcare for everyone, Women’s College Hospital is committed to closing gaps in care for the Black community. Across the hospital, researchers and scientists are tackling some of the most pressing issues related to Black health, including through three groundbreaking programs that consider the unique needs of Black Canadians: The Emily Stowe Society, Crossroads Refugee Clinic and Skin of Colour Dermatology Clinic.
