Welcome To Linda's Adopt! Don't Shop! Page
Greetings Everyone!
Welcome to my 2024 walk page! It's a new year, and I am sure that all of us are looking forward to the return of Pet Walk MKE. As you may remember, our Tails on the Trail walk is now called Pet Walk MKE. Why? Because the Wisconsin Humane Society has grown--again!--with the addition of Kenosha County to the WHS family, giving us SIX shelters in six counties! This also means we have multiple walks! Hurray! Last year I walked in honor of not only all the animals who needed help from our amazing WHS, but also for my beautiful, incredible, rescued puppy mill survivor, BettyBoo, who crossed the Bridge in January 2018. She was the perfect ambassador to prove that a dog who had experienced the worst a human could give would be able to blossom and thrive given a chance. Her capacity to give to me far eclipsed what I could have ever hoped to give to her. I will also be walking in memory of my adopted rescue dog, Sadie, "my little, tiny girl", who crossed the Bridge in September 2020. Sadie was my true "velcro dog", who wanted nothing more than to give and receive love. My so-far 15 year career at the WHS started out helping give baths to the over 1,600 dogs we saved from a Wisconsin puppy mill. Sadie and BettyBoo are the personification of all the dogs whose lives have touched mine in ways that mere words could never describe. If you are able to give even $1.00, it will make a difference: for the animals in our care now, for those whose journey to a forever home will bring them through our doors, in memory of BettyBoo. and in memory of Sadie. Because of the training I received at the Wisconsin Humane Society, I didn't hesitate to say YES when Jacks Galore Russell Rescue asked--twice--"Would you adopt this dog?".
I thank each and every one of you for your support. I know that BettyBoo and Sadie would thank you as well.
For the animals,
Linda Gatton
