As many of you know, I recently advanced my career in nonprofit development by becoming the event coordinator for the southern campuses of the Wisconsin Humane Society. In this new role, I lead the planning and implementation of the special event fundraising programs at WHS with primary focus on the Milwaukee and Ozaukee communities.

Pet Walk MKE is my largest responsibility as event coordinator - last year over 750 people attended our 5k/walk/festival fundraiser at Veteran's Park and just under $200,000 (!!) was raised to support the work WHS does. I hope to meet or exceed this benchmark in my first year, but I can't do it without you! I have been booking entertainment, vendors, pet activities, food and beverage providers, etc. and I really hope to have some of my friends and family come out on June 15th to see how it all comes together! Of course the humane society gives safe shelter to animals who have no where else to go, but you may be surprised to learn that people are also at the heart of WHS's mission. It provides youth, adult and family outreach programming to ensure we continue to create a world where people treat animals with respect and kindness. Some of the resources the organization offers are pet food banks, low cost vaccine clinics and spay/neuter services, temporary pet boarding for victims of domestic violence, affordable end of life services, etc.

As hard as it is to reach out to friends and family asking for donations, seeing the success stories of these animals makes it so worth it!
