Below are some FAQs about this year's event on Saturday, June 19. 

Do I need to decide where I plan to walk on June 19 before I register for Pet Walk?

No! The park you choose to do your own “pet walk” on June 19 is completely up to you! You can register today (if you haven’t already) and decide which park works best for you and your friends, family or team members as you get closer to June 19.

Do I need to create separate teams if people on my team plan to walk at different parks?

No. You don’t have to, but if you want to, we can help. If you find that your work team has people who want to walk at more than one park on June 19, don’t stress. Now that we have the routes available to view (and thank goodness for map apps on our phones!), you can simply choose a “meeting spot” at each park for those who plan to be at that location so they can do their walk together, and there’s no need to set up different teams to do that.

  • Interested in a little friendly office competition between co-workers to see which park location most people sign up for, or which one raises the most? Then setting up different teams sounds like a great idea, and we can help you do that! Simply email us here and we can walk through it together!


I can't make it to these three Milwaukee parks on June 19. Can I still participate in Pet Walk?

Absolutely! Simply register as an individual (for free!) and then decide on the park, route, and time that works best for you! Regardless of where or when you choose to walk, everyone who registers for Pet Walk qualifies for fundraising prizes and all donations raised still support animals at WHS. If it’s free, do I still need to register for Pet Walk?

Yes, please! Pet Walk is one of the largest fundraisers of the year for the animals at WHS, and individuals (like you) making personal donations, and asking friends, family and colleagues to donate to support this cause you care about, is what makes our work possible. Registering also gives us an idea of how many people and pups to prepare treats and giveaways for day-of, so in short, it helps us create a better event for you and your furry friends. :)

Is there a minimum fundraising amount I have to raise to participate?

There is no minimum, but we encourage participants to try to raise at least $50 to earn your exclusive 2021 Pet Walk T-shirt. You can do this by making a personal donation when you register, asking others to donate to your personal fundraising page, or a combination of both! Most people are surprised how easy it is to set up a Facebook fundraiser and ask for support, and we can help!

I fundraised! When can I pick up my shirt and prizes that I qualified for?

Shirt and prize pick up will be June 14-18 at our Milwaukee Campus. Specific times each day will be emailed out to participants in May.

Can I pick up my shirt on June 19?

Unfortunately, no. Due to restrictions, we are not able to offer shirt or prize pick-up on the day of the walk this year. Participants have two options:

  1. Pick up your shirt and prizes during prize pickup June 14-18 at our Milwaukee Campus
  2. At the time of registration, select the button at the bottom to pay to have your items shipped after the walk
    • In-person pick-up is the only way to receive shirts, bandanas, and prizes before June 19

You can register as an individual or you can create or join a team. 

Teams are simply made up of two or more people who want to compete for our top team prizes, as well as awesome individual fundraising prizes!

Registration fees for 2021 are waived, so it's easier than ever to sign up for Pet Walk!  Everyone who registers gets a Pet Walk web page you can personalize with pictures and stories of you and your furry friends.  It's easy to earn great prizes by collecting donations for animals in need!

What do you do with the money raised from Pet Walk?

100% of the proceeds from Pet Walk go right back to helping the 40,000 animals that WHS cares for every year.  Because of your support for events like Pet Walk, every adoptable animal has as long as it takes to find a home, regardless of time or space.  WHS does not receive general government funding. We are funded through the generous support of community-minded companies, foundations, and caring individuals and through special events like Pet Walk.  




Can I raise money offline (checks and cash) even if I sign up online? 

Absolutely!  Every participant can choose their preferred fundraising format.  You can send your cash and check donations directly to WHS and we'll enter the donations in your participant center for you. Just be sure to record names, addresses and amount for these donations on our pledge form so that we can track them properly and include them on your fundraising web page.  You can find the pledge form here.


How do l qualify for fundraising prizes?

It's easy! Ask friends, family, and social networks to support you- it's easier than you think and we've put together sample language to help get you started on our Fundraising Toolkit Page here. Prizes start for those who raise $25 or more and can be found on our prize page here.

How do I collect my fundraising prizes?

We are working on prize pick-up details and will know more in the coming weeks. Watch your email and the Pet Walk website for more information leading up to the walk.

What's the deadline to collect donations to earn prizes?

Donations are collected through Pet Walk to qualify for prizes. 


Is donating online safe and secure? 

You can donate without worry knowing that we partner with the online fundraising experts at Luminate Online to ensure the safest and most secure transactions possible. 


Can you change the recognition name of a donation I’ve already made? 

 Yes.  Please contact us at so that we can credit donations to the proper person.  



Should we create teams for this event?

Definitely! Those happy hour calls, friends and family video calls, and work meetings are great opportunities to ask others to join your team for Pet Walk! After all, how many times have your pets interrupted your video calls this year? Many people are looking for positive ways to engage with their community and the people they're used to seeing every day, and coming together (while apart) to support a charity you care about is a great way to help everyone join in something bigger than themselves and feel good. 


How many people make up a team?  

Two or more people are required to form a team.    

I registered as an individual but now would like to join or create a team.  What do I do? 

Contact us at and request your desired team.  We’ll update your record for you.  

How are the prizes distributed to me if I’m part of a team? 

Prizes are distributed based on individual fundraising accomplishments, regardless of whether or not you are on a team.
