Description:  Elvis Presley made television and entertainment history with his Elvis, Aloha from Hawaii concert television special.  Elvis filmed a complete dress rehearsal concert before a live audience on January 12, 1973 as a precaution in case there were technical issues with the upcoming satellite broadcast.  The satellite broadcast took place without any technical difficulties on January 14, 1973 and was beamed live to over 10 countries and on a delayed basis to approximately 30 European countries. 

On April 4, 1973 an edited version of the concert, expanded with 4 songs videotaped just after the satellite event, was presented in America on NBC, attracting 51% of the nationwide viewing audience.  In all, the concert was seen in over 40 countries by close to 1.5 billion people.  Never before had one performer held the world’s attention in such a way.
