2 DVD Set: The Windermere Children
August, 1945. A coachload of children arrives at the Calgarth Estate by Lake Windermere. They are child survivors of the Nazi Holocaust that has devastated Europe's Jewish population. Carrying only the clothes they wear and a few meagre possessions, they bear the emotional and physical scars of all they have suffered. Charged with looking after them is Oscar Friedmann, a German-born child psychologist. He and his team of counsellors have just 4 months to help the children reclaim their lives. By the lake, the children eat, learn English, play football and ride bikes. They yearn for news of their loved ones. Some locals taunt them, but they are embraced by others. In this environment, they begin to heal. This is the stark, moving and ultimately redemptive story of the bonds the children make with one another, and of how the friendships forged at Windermere become a lifeline to a fruitful future. In the absence of relatives, they find family in each other. Includes the companion PBS documentary about the rehabilitation of child survivors of the Holocaust. Play Length: 150 minutes

Born in 1897, Anderson's parents were cultured and supportive of their children. After her father's death, the family moved to Philadelphia. Anderson was 12. Unable to attend High School (her family was too poor), she pursued her musical ambitions through the church. Supported by the local community - her talent was obvious - she secured informal instruction after being rejected by the Philadelphia Music Academy. In 1925 she won First Prize in a competition organized by the New York Philharmonic. Her career evolved from there - especially in Europe where she was popular. By 1939 Marian Anderson was feted worldwide, but a concert planned for Washington's Constitution Hall was blocked for one reason: she was black. With Eleanor Roosevelt's support the concert took place instead on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial. It was a triumph - now, perhaps, too little recalled. This release would be merited simply because it is music-making of the highest order, but this is more - it's an important piece of American history.The Copenhagen Concert is a further triumph. Held in especially high regard in Scandinavia (Sibelius adapted some of his works for her), Anderson basks in the audience's affection.

The show celebrated the reissue of the Sticky Fingers album and was the opening night of The Rolling Stones Zip Code Tour of North America that would run over the next two months. The intimate setting of the Fonda Theatre contrasted the huge stadiums in which the band would perform for the rest of the tour and made this an incredibly special occasion for those fans lucky enough to get a ticket. The DVD includes interviews with the band members intercut with full length performances.

Exclusive through February 4, 2018. Folk Legends: Isn't This A Time! was perhaps one of the greatest folk concerts of all time. The Weavers, Peter, Paul & Mary, Pete Seeger, and Arlo Guthrie performed together at Carnegie Hall in 2003. This last gathering of these legendary folk artists was the final in a series of annual concerts at Carnegie Hall that was produced by the late folk impresario Harold Leventhal. Folk Legends: Isn't This A Time! is linked to the famous 1955 Carnegie Hall concert by the Weavers that was masterminded by Harold Leventhal to defy the blacklist and to restore The Weavers right to perform publicly. Some music historians attribute the start of the modern folk revival to that historic performance. Like Enrico Caruso before him, Luciano Pavarotti extended his presence far beyond the limits of Italian opera. Quickly establishing his trademark rich sound as the great male operatic voice of the 20th century, he expanded his reach to stadium concerts and pop collaborations which brought him fame beyond measure. Half a million people flocked to hear the maestro in Central Park and millions worldwide watched on television. On July 7, 2019, The Avett Brothers performed at Red Rocks for the 25th time. The sold-out crowd of 9,200 danced, sang, and cheered throughout the show.
