Funding for international assistance makes up less that 1 percent of the federal budget and provides critical, life-saving assistance to combat HIV and AIDS, hunger, malaria, child mortality, and more.
Even though these programs do immeasurable good and make up a negligible percentage of the overall federal budget, they could be subjected to severe cuts, depending on the outcome of negotiations between Congress and the White House.
Send a message to your members of Congress and the President. Ask them to oppose major cuts to international assistance, and work with members of both parties to ensure that these programs are protected. There are few places in the U.S. federal budget where dollars translate so directly into lives saved.
