The wage gap has narrowed by less than half a cent per year since 2010, meaning women are not projected to earn equal pay until 2059. For every dollar a man earns women with comparable education and experience only make only 80 cents. This costs the average American woman $700,000 to $2 million in lost wages over a working lifetime. America's women are worth more and they deserve better!
The Paycheck Fairness Act Paycheck Fairness Act (H.R. 1619 & S. 862) would update pay equity regulations by requiring justification for pay disparities between male and female employees doing the same job, and by instituting penalties for discrimination similar to those on the basis of race and national origin. The Paycheck Fairness Act would also bar retaliation against employees who disclose their own wages to coworkers. Urge your legislators to cosponsor and support the Paycheck Fairness Act.
