November was National Family Caregivers Month! Urge your legislators to
take action before the end of the congressional session.
Women are often the primary caregivers for their families, sometimes juggling
the responsibilities of caring for both children and aging parents.
Approximately 40 million Americans, three-fifths of whom are women, provide
unpaid care for an adult relative or friend—exacting a professional, financial,
emotional, and physical toll on caregivers and their families.
Urge your legislators to support the Recognize, Assist, Include,
Support and Engage (RAISE) Family Caregivers Act (H.R. 3099 | S. 1719). This bipartisan
legislation would mandate a National Family Caregiving Strategy and convene a
Family Caregiving Advisory Council to address this crucial issue. As a member
of the WomenAgainstAlzheimer’s Network, Hadassah also supports the Alzheimer's
Beneficiary and Caregiver Support Act (H.R.5681 | S.3137), which would create a
pilot program to evaluate caregiver counseling services and needs assessments.
Hadassah passed a Caregiving Policy Statement at its 2016 National
Support Family Caregivers!
