At the Y, it is our communities' needs that lead us forward. Over the last three years, each Y across LA transformed into a community care center, together delivering over 2.6 million meals and 9 million pounds of groceries, 1 million hours of free childcare, and 96,000 hygiene kits, even while moving to virtual programs that continued to serve more than 8,000 teens and 50,000 families.
Now, our communities are leading us forward in a new direction: even as we re-open our branches and re-launch our proven in-person Y programs, we must also sustain our work filling basic needs. This means expanding Y capacity to new levels.
It is the Y's Community Impact Fund leads us forward to meet these challenges. The Community Impact Fund allows us to continue giving food and care to millions in 2023. Additionally, it helps us ramp up our healthy equity work through targeted outreach to more than 7,000 youth and adults getting vaccinated against COVID and the flu. Moreover we’re able to support well over 5,000 immigrants and newcomers with naturalization and citizenship access.
The Y is trusted by our seniors, our youth, and our families, and we must honor their trust with new levels of services and programs. With your help, the Community Impact Fund will enable the YMCA to keep leading us – all Angelenos – forward to meet tomorrow's challenges. Because we can't succeed without you, we invite you to join us today.
