On March 1, 2013, Dorothy A. Forbes-Hood passed away from ALS at the age of 47. She was a very loving mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt and best friend. She was diagnosed with ALS in October 2012 after she had problems in her foot and leg. She was given 2-5 years but it progressed so quickly that we only had 5 months left with her. She lived out her final days in her home with her devoted family, with her children surrounding her with love. Dorothy had a passion for life, she was funny, always finding joy in any situation. I remember her spinning in circles in her wheelchair once, I thought something was wrong but she was smiling and said she was dancing! Dorothy had a deep love for God and He was with her always. No matter what she faced, Dorothy's faith never wavered. She is missed every day and we will walk to honor her memory...Dorothy, we love you and miss you and your laugh so much...we are blessed to have you as our Angel. As you would say, 'see you later!'

Why We Need Your Help
Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a progressive, fatal neuromuscular disease that slowly robs the body of its ability to walk, speak, swallow and breathe. The life expectancy of a person with ALS averages 2 to 5 years from the time of diagnosis.
Every 90 minutes a person in this country is diagnosed with ALS and every 90 minutes another person will lose their battle against this disease. ALS occurs throughout the world with no racial, ethnic, or socioeconomic boundaries.
ALS can strike anyone. Presently there is no known cause of the disease, yet it still costs loved ones an average of $250,000 a year to provide the care people living with ALS and their families need. Join the movement to provide help and hope today!
