Why Team Gottlieb Walks for David
My father & best friend, David Gottlieb, was diagnosed with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis on May 3, 2021. He passed away on November 4, 2021, just 6 months later.
Some time in March my dad became unsteady on his feet. All within 3 weeks he went from needing a cane, a walker and then a wheelchair. March was also when his speech began to slur. By April, he could no longer chew and by June he could no longer swallow. June 15th he received a feeding tube. June was also when my father lost his ability to speak. And in July he became paralyzed from his neck down. On November 4th, my dad’s diaphragm could no longer move and he lost his ability to breathe.
There is no cure for this debilitating disease. That is why Team Gottlieb is committed to raising money to support people in our community with ALS and spread awareness of the urgency to find treatments and a cure. Please consider joining our team in the Walk to Defeat ALS® or donate to our cause.

ABOUT ALS
Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a progressive, fatal neuromuscular disease that slowly robs the body of its ability to walk, speak, swallow and breathe. The life expectancy of a person with ALS averages 2 to 5 years from the time of diagnosis.
ALS can strike anyone. Presently there is no known cause of the disease, yet it still costs loved ones an average of $250,000 a year to provide the care people living with ALS and their families need. Join the movement to provide help and hope today!
