Welcome to Shakey's Band of Misfits page
This is our 7th year doing the walk.
As most of you know, Shakey was diagnosed with this horrible disease in July of 2016.
We have been blessed to have him come and join us as we walk to help defeat this disease. We plan on having him with us. But, we all know, safety first for him is our main concern.
This year's walk is being held at Polar Park in Worcester MA on October 7th, 2023. It's being held on a Saturday, not Sunday. Hope to see you there.
Last year, we had a great time at the park with all of Shakey's family and friends. I'm hoping we have another big showing of support for Shakey and others who have this horrible disease.
We've got a new color and I'm really excited to see it out on the warning track!.
Thank you for helping us reach our fund raising goal! Together we can make a difference in the lives of those affected by ALS. Our team is committed to raising money to support people in our community with ALS and spread awareness of the urgency to find treatment and a cure. Please consider joining our team in the Walk to Defeat ALS or choose a team member from the list and donate to our cause.
Why We Need Your Help
Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a progressive, fatal neuromuscular disease that slowly robs the body of its ability to walk, speak, swallow and breathe. The life expectancy of a person with ALS averages 2 to 5 years from the time of diagnosis.
Every 90 minutes a person in this country is diagnosed with ALS and every 90 minutes another person will lose their battle against this disease. ALS occurs throughout the world with no racial, ethnic or socioeconomic boundaries.
ALS can strike anyone. Presently there is no known cause of the disease, yet it still costs loved ones an average of $250,000 a year to provide the care people living with ALS and their families need. Join the movement to provide the help and hope today.
Cuz ALS Sucks!
Thank you
