“I never knew what BRAVERY and STRENGTH was until I saw someone I love battle ALS.” A cause that is close to my heart 💙 If it can happen to our Gary, it can happen to anyone. My brother….amazing brother, father, husband, son, Uncle, Coach and Educator! This cruel disease took his life a little over 5 months after diagnosis! It’s 2024, let’s find a cure but at the very least — Let’s make this a livable disease (honoring my brother Gary, 6/13/63 - 2/21/22). The Walk to Defeat ALS raises funds to support those affected by ALS and to spread awareness of the urgency to find treatments and a cure. I walk not only in memory of my brother (Team Gary) but to raise awareness and hope for you, my children, family & friends!
Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) also know as Lou Gehrig’s Disease is a progressive, fatal neuromuscular disease that slowly robs the body of its ability to walk, speak, swallow and breathe. The life expectancy of a person with ALS averages 2 to 5 years from the time of diagnosis. ALS can strike anyone, and presently there is no known cause or cure! That’s why I’m walking……. To change the statistics. To bring help and hope to those living with the disease. To ensure that no one ever hears the words: “You Have ALS” again.
The past two years have brought advancements in ALS research, expanded access to care for people living with ALS, and enabled legislation that impacts the quality of life of people with ALS and their families. But, we can’t stop now. The key to a cure begins with you and there is so much more needed for this underfunded deadly disease!
Please consider sponsoring Team Gary. With your help, we will be able to make a difference in the lives of people affected by this disease!
Thank you for helping Team Gary make a difference and reach our Walk to Defeat ALS fundraising goal!
