Meet Arketha, or as we fondly call her, Noonie. Her journey embodies the essence of resilience and dedication. From a young age, Arketha dreamt of becoming an ER nurse. Despite the challenges, she worked tirelessly, balancing full-time work with full-time nursing school until she graduated in 2019. Her passion for nursing led her to work multiple shifts, often up to five 12-hour days a week, never once calling in sick. However, in 2023, Arketha received a devastating diagnosis of ALS. Despite this setback, she remains determined to fight, and she never fails to greet you with a smile. We invite you to join us in supporting Arketha and others like her affected by ALS. Together, we can make a difference by raising funds for our community and spreading awareness about the urgency of finding treatments and a cure. Your contribution brings HOPE and strength to our cause. Thank you for helping us reach our fundraising goal. Let's walk together in the Walk to Defeat ALS® and/or consider donating to our team. Every step and every donation counts in our journey towards a world free from ALS.
WHY WE NEED YOUR HELP
Every 90 minutes a person in this country is diagnosed with ALS and every 90 minutes another person will lose their battle against this disease. ALS occurs throughout the world with no racial, ethnic, or socioeconomic boundaries.
That’s why we’re participating in the Walk to Defeat ALS. To bring hope. To raise awareness. To provide resources and services to families free of charge. To help unlock the mystery of ALS and find the key to treatments and a cure. Will you join us?
ABOUT ALS
Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a progressive, fatal neuromuscular disease that slowly robs the body of its ability to walk, speak, swallow and breathe. The life expectancy of a person with ALS averages 2 to 5 years from the time of diagnosis.
ALS can strike anyone. Presently there is no known cause of the disease, yet it still costs loved ones an average of $250,000 a year to provide the care people living with ALS and their families need. Join the movement to provide help and hope today!
