"In it for Life"
Thank you for helping The Globemasters reach our fund raising goal and to help those who are suffering! 2024 is the 24th year of The Globemasters in the St. Louis Walk.
Last year’s team was the most successful yet - with your help and support, the team raised over $75,000 in what was also the most successful Walk to Defeat ALS ever.
Let’s keep the momentum for treatments and a cure going!!
The Globemasters were initially formed in 2001 in memory of Ray Van de Riet Sr who passed away from ALS in 2000 and named after the USAF plane he flew (the C-124 Globemaster).
Each year, we are fortunate to be joined by family and friends in order to honor the memories of those who have bravely fought this disease including Ray Van de Riet Sr (2000), Skip Dickinson (2014), Nancy Ratliff (2016),Mike Yochim (2020), John Kindle (2003) , Ralph Vaterott (2020) and David Price (2007).
Together with The ALS Association of St. Louis, we can make a real difference in the lives of those affected by Lou Gehrig's Disease. Our team is committed to raising money to support people in our community with ALS and spread awareness of the urgency to find treatment and a cure. Please consider joining our team in the Walk to Defeat ALS® or choose a team member from the list and donate to our cause.
We will continue fighting this disease and helping those who suffer until there is a cure! We are in this fight for Life!!
Why We Need Your Help
Often referred to as Lou Gehrig's Disease, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a progressive, fatal neuromuscular disease that slowly robs the body of its ability to walk, speak, swallow and breathe. The life expectancy of an ALS patient averages 2 to 5 years from the time of diagnosis.
Every 90 minutes a person in this country is diagnosed with ALS and every 90 minutes another person will lose their battle against this disease. ALS occurs throughout the world with no racial, ethnic, or socioeconomic boundaries.
This crippling disease can strike anyone. Presently there is no known cause of the disease yet it still costs loved ones an average of $200,000 a year to provide the care ALS patients need. Help make a difference and donate or join a walk today. Thank you for all of your support!
It's way past time to strike out ALS!!!
Please walk with us to honor the memories of Ray Van de Riet Sr., Skip Dickinson, Mike Yochim, Nancy Ratliff, John Kindle, Ralph Vaterott, David Price and all of those who are affected by ALS.
