Thank you so much for stopping by our Team page and for helping us raise money to support the ALS Foundation Saint Louis.
This year we are collecting gift cards to raffle off a gift card tree or use as a prize for a fundraiser night.
Our dad, Mark Donovan, was diagnosed in January 2016 with ALS and died in July 2017. We watched as this terrible disease robbed him of his ability to move his arms, grip things, walk, and eventually talk and even to breathe. It took only a year and a half for him to go through all the stages and eventually succumb to the disease. The ALS Foundation was a strong support for him and mom as they provided equipment and references for care that were able to help mom care for him at home through the duration of his suffering. He was only 65 when he died, far too young as we are concerned.
So, we walk this year in Mark’s memory and to raise money for the ALS Foundation as a way to give back to them for their generosity to us.
We hope that you will join us on June 23 for the walk and consider donating to the cause and help us reach our fundraising goal. Please consider joining our team in the Walk to Defeat ALS® or choose a team member from the list and donate to our cause.
Why We Need Your Help
Often referred to as Lou Gehrig's Disease, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a progressive, fatal neuromuscular disease that slowly robs the body of its ability to walk, speak, swallow and breathe. The life expectancy of an ALS patient averages 2 to 5 years from the time of diagnosis.
Every 90 minutes a person in this country is diagnosed with ALS and every 90 minutes another person will lose their battle against this disease. ALS occurs throughout the world with no racial, ethnic, or socioeconomic boundaries.
This crippling disease can strike anyone. Presently there is no known cause of the disease yet it still costs loved ones an average of $200,000 a year to provide the care ALS patients need. Help make a difference and donate or join a walk today.
