I hope everyone is doing well and staying healthy while enjoying the last few months of summer! As summer is moving, fall is quickly coming around the corner, which is exciting for college football and the Steelers season, two things that my father, Greg Mace, loved! Which leads us to the 2023 ALS Walk in Pittsburgh!
I will be registering Team Mace back on the ALS Association Western PA chapter website once it is available. I will update this email chain with information such as how to join the team and as well how to donate.
This brings me to the next topic: Why do we attend the walk and where do my donations go? There are two main objectives to the ALS walk in Pittsburgh:
1. To share stories, support, and collaborate with all of those in the Pittsburgh Area that have either lost someone due to ALS, the individual attending is currently battling ALS, someone's family member is currently battling, or you are just simply supporting the cause.
2. To raise money for an eventual cure for this terminal illness.
One objective is simple. By simply showing up to the walk on September 9, in support of Greg Mace, you can share stories of what we went through as a family with others, provide support to someone you see in a wheelchair battling the disease, or just to walk to support the cause.
To end this disease, as what does make the world go round, money is another objective. The ALS Association is putting each dollar you donate into a fund to help find a cure so that future patients can continue living their life and put an end to this terminal disease. I am not asking everyone to donate hundreds of dollars, due to everyone's personal financial situation, but I am asking that if you can donate, please do- it will help find a cure.
Another simple way of raising more money and awareness is by sharing the donation links that will be coming in the future. Most people have social media, give it a quick share! That will send it out to hundreds of more people that I, or even my Dad, didn't even know, with a simple click. People can donate directly on Facebook once you share and it will fund directly towards our team (as long as you share from our team page). A small share can go a long way, and I hope that you all take the extra step to do so, along with coming on the 10th.
I hope everyone can join us to share our story with others, raise money, and walk in honor of our lost loved one, Greg Mace. Please see the following information to join our team
