For the past 5 years, our team has walked in honor of Dan Jasper, who was diagnosed with ALS in 2016. Dan passed away on March 17, 2022. This year, we will lovingly walk in his memory.
Last year, our team reached our fundraising goal by hosting a neighborhood walk. We were overwhelmed by the outpouring of support from family, friends, neighbors and colleagues. Our heartfelt thanks to those of you who came, walked, generously donated and visited with Dan. He enjoyed every minute you spent with him and was touched by your outpouring of friendship, love and support.
Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a progressive, fatal neuromuscular disease that slowly robs the body of its ability to walk, speak, swallow and breathe. The life expectancy of a person with ALS averages 2 to 5 years from the time of diagnosis. ALS can strike anyone, and presently there is no known cause or cure.
Our family is strongly committed to eradicating this disease, and we stand with those affected by ALS - those living with it and their families who provide round-the-clock care for their loved ones. The Walk to Defeat ALS raises funds to support those affected by ALS and to spread awareness of the urgency to find treatments and a cure.
With deepest gratitude we also stand with the team at the Central and Southern Ohio Chapter who provides invaluable services and hope to individuals and families impacted by ALS in our local community. We know first-hand the importance of the good work done by this small yet mighty team. Their efforts to proactively address the various stages of the disease and provide support and resources helped us to provide Dan the best possible quality of life as he courageously faced living with ALS.
We hope you will join us and support the walk at Coffman Park on September 18th. Thank you for your generous outpouring of support.
