Thank you for helping us reach our fundraising goal! Together we can make a difference in the lives of those affected by ALS. Our team is committed to raising money to support people in our community with ALS and spread awareness of the urgency to find treatments and a cure. Please consider joining our team in the Walk to Defeat ALS®.
My husband, Rouseau Lee, was diagnosed in late 2019 with ALS. For 2 1/2 years we saw what this disease can do to the body. Lee stayed strong in mind and spirit even when his body was declining. He kept his faith in Christ but knowing the final decision was up to our Lord to whether he was healed. This incredible man, with all his might, lost his battle from ALS on June 17, 2021.
On August 22, 2020, my team walked at Carrie Gaulbert Cox Park (aka Cox's Park) in Louisville Ky. Due to the COVID-19 Virus it was a "Virtual Walk" meaning it will be created by the team captain which was myself. We took all precautions for your safety and using guidelines for social distancing.
Lee was looking forward to the Louisville Walk in 2021. We had plans which would have been larger than our walk in 2020 at Cox Park. At Cox Park we had his classmates from Louisville Central High School, church members from Mt. Vernon, neighbors, family and friends. It was so much love and fun.
But now I am asking for your help. In memory of Rouseau Lee Powers, please join me to help others with ALS and make their journey better. ALS is monetarily costly and causes hardships for some families. The research also needs major funding.
Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a progressive, fatal neuromuscular disease that slowly robs the body of its ability to walk, speak, swallow and breathe. The life expectancy of a person with ALS averages 2 to 5 years from the time of diagnosis. ALS can strike anyone, and presently there is no known cause or cure.
Please remember this is a FUNDRAISER EVENT.
I appreciate every donation and/or participation you are able to provide. Keeping Lee's memory alive is important to me. Help me to keep fighting for him.
Thank you so much,
Liz
WHY WE NEED YOUR HELP
Every 90 minutes a person in this country is diagnosed with ALS and every 90 minutes another person will lose their battle against this disease. ALS occurs throughout the world with no racial, ethnic, or socioeconomic boundaries.
That’s why we’re participating in the Walk to Defeat ALS. To bring hope. To raise awareness. To provide resources and services to families free of charge. To help unlock the mystery of ALS and find the key to treatments a cure. Will you join us?
