General FAQ

What is the purpose of BCAN’s Walk to End Bladder Cancer events?

Although bladder cancer is one of the most commonly diagnosed cancers in America, it has not received much public attention, and many people are unaware of the risks or early warning signs. The purpose of the Walk to End Bladder Cancer is to bring awareness to this little-known disease. Our walks also generate critical funds that enable BCAN to offer educational resources and support programs free of charge, advance research, serve more patients and families, and continue as the leading provider of bladder cancer services and information in the country. For more information about BCAN programs and services, please visit www.bcan.org

Will there be COVID-19 safety measures in place at Walk?

The health and safety of our participants, staff and volunteers are our top priorities. Walk events will be designed with this in mind including a venue layout that allows for physical distancing and hand sanitizer.

How do receive a walk shirt?

You must register as a walk participant and fundraise $100 or more under your participant name. All donations you receive under your name will count towards receiving the 2024 walk commemorative t-shirt.

Couples and spouses should register and fundraise separately. You are able to donate to each other.

  • What if I am a part of a team? Will my donations count towards the team goals?

Yes. If you are a part of a team, money raised as an individual will count towards your personal goal and team goal.

  • Can I donate to myself?

Mail checks directly to BCAN. Download the donation form here. Checks should be made payable to the Bladder Cancer Advocacy Network, 4520 East-West Highway, Suite 610, Bethesda, MD 20814.

How do I register my child(ren) to participate in an BCAN Walk event?

The cost for children under the age of 18 to participate is $10. Youth can be added to an adult (individual or team) registration. This should be done on the Participant Options page during the registration process. You can select up to three youth per adult registration. Please note that youth are unable to register separately from an adult registration. Don’t forget to provide their names and shirt sizes under “Additional Information” after you have clicked Next Step.

How can I organize a fundraising event that is not a walk?
