New Director of Development Joins DuPage Habitat Team

DuPage Habitat for Humanity is proud to announce the new Director of Development.

DuPage Habitat for Humanity welcomes a new Director of Development, Sue Ward, to the team.

Ward started as a dedicated ReStore shopper in Will County, and a proud homeowner with a fix-it attitude. These two simple concepts made a big impression. In 2017, she was asked to join the Will County Habitat Women Build planning committee. Ward had a great experience raising money with friends and giving back to her community, and fell in love with the Habitat mission.

Though Ward grew up in a family that was always involved with the community, her great enthusiasm for nonprofit work came after battling and surviving stage III breast cancer in 2000. She decided to use her career skills and passions somewhere it would make a difference. This led her to volunteering for the American Cancer Society, and joining the staff in 2004.

Ward is also currently a Mentor Angel for Imerman’s Angels, where she provides support, empathy, and understanding to another cancer fighter or survivor. As someone who has been in the same situation, she’s able to provide comfort and care to others who need it.

Going forward, Ward is excited about the growth she hopes to see. “I look forward to building our team in a way that keeps each of us learning and expanding our skills, creating fundraising platforms that are diverse and sustainable, and creating an event experience that provides the highest level of constituent support. The mission will be at the center of all we do,” she explains.
