What is Women Build?

DuPage Habitat for Humanity and Lowe’s invite women to build alongside future homeowners during the 10th annual National Women Build Week, May 6 through 14. DuPage Habitat for Humanity is one of 300 Habitat organizations nationwide hosting Women Build projects during the week with support from Lowe’s, a longtime partner in the event. During the week-long build, local community members will lend their time and talents, volunteering on a single family home in Bensenville.

National Women Build Week brings together women to devote at least one day to building decent and affordable housing in their local communities. Nearly 100,000 women from all 50 states have volunteered in previous years. DuPage Habitat for Humanity’s 2017 Spring Women Build is an opportunity for women to come together and build homes, communities and hope for families in need! The mission of Women Build is simple - to recruit, educate and nurture women to build and advocate for simple, decent and affordable housing in their communities. Volunteers of every skill level are welcome. We will teach, support and train all participants on the build site!

The location of the build is 326 S Walnut St, Bensenville, IL 60106. Community Builders will begin at 9:00 AM and complete their projects around 3:30 PM on May 6 and May 13. Corporate Builders will start their workday at the traditional time of 7:30 AM and end around 3:30 PM on May 8 – 12 build dates. All tools, safety gear and training will be provided on site. Get excited to give back with a group of energetic women!

When is it?

Community Women Build Days: May 6 & May 13

Individuals and teams are asked to raise $250 or more per person to help fund the cost of building materials and Women Build t-shirts for your workday. Every individual that raises $250+ will receive a 2017 Women Build shirt, and additional recognition prizes are available for Team Captains and outstanding individual fundraisers!

Corporate Women Build Days: May 8 - 12

Corporate Women Build Teams are asked to donate $2,500 for each group of 5 volunteers to fund the cost of building materials and 2017 Women Build t-shirts for your workday.  Please see the right hand side of this page for additional sponsorship levels.
