Frequently Asked Questions
When Does Sign In Begin?
Sign-in takes place at 7:30 am at Mooney’s Bay located off of Riverside Drive in Ottawa.
How Many Teams Are Allowed to Compete?
40, so make sure you register early before the event sells out
Who Can Attend this Event?
This is a family friendly event so we encourage people of all ages to attend! There is something for everyone to do, especially the little ones (ie. Bouncy castles, yoga on the beach, and a visit from Little Ray’s Reptile Zoo)!
Will Food be Made Available?
There will be an end of event BBQ by early afternoon for all racers and volunteers. If you have registered to fundraise for a team but are not racing, food is available for you too. Food is available for purchase for all other spectators.
Can I Bring my Dog to the Event?
As much as we love your pooch, no dogs are allowed at Mooney’s Bay.
Is Parking Available?
Lots of parking is available at Hogs Back Marina.
Can My Company Be A Sponsor At This Event?
You bet! Great sponsorship opportunities are available and we provide terrific sponsor recognition prior to, during and after the event. Contact the CLK office at 613-742-6922 and ask how your company can get involved.
Can I Attend If I Am Not Competing?
Of course! We encourage people to come and cheer on their friends and family, and take part in the many activities we have going on throughout the day. There are no admission fees to enter the park.
Can I Raise Money Without Competing?
Yes you can! You do not have to take part in the race to raise money for the event. You will also be eligible for great prizes even if you are just part of the official cheering squad!
How Many People Can I Have On My Team?
You can have as many people on your team as possible to participate in the event. However, only 6 people are able to be in the canoe at once, and all teams are guaranteed 2 races. We recommend extra teammates to act as spare paddlers and cheering squads.
How Much of the Proceeds Raised Will Go To Christie Lake Kids?
100% of the funds will stay with Christie Lake Kids. It’s our goal this year to raise $140,000 for our organization.
How will Christie Lake Kids spend the money?
The revenue raised from this event goes directly to support Christie Lake Camp. Each summer, we send nearly 400 youth to camp at no cost to families. As you can imagine, we have to raise a lot of money to provide for a quality camp experience including transportation, food, program supplies and materials like sleeping bags and extra clothes.
Will Prizes Be Given Out?
Of course! Special prizes like fastest team, top fundraisers, best team costumes, and most creative team name are just a few! We also have great prizes for a variety of levels that individuals can achieve.
When Will The Event End?
The event ends in early afternoon once the races have completed and the prizes have been awarded.
What if I Don’t Have Enough People To Fill a Team?
Call us, we’ll find a team for you to be a part of or help you find teammates. The event is so fun that you need to be a part of it.
If you don’t have a team, call us and we’ll find you one!
