GW played an important and historic role in the nationwide effort to develop and test a safe, effective COVID-19 vaccine, serving as a Phase 3 clinical trial site for the Moderna mRNA vaccine. Hear from GW faculty experts at the forefront of the fight against COVID-19, as they share their experiences, knowledge and insights surrounding the COVID-19 vaccine and its rollout.

David Diemert, MD, a principal investigator for the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine trial at GW and a professor of medicine, will address how the COVID-19 vaccine works and the scientific process behind creating it. William Borden, MD, MBA, a professor of medicine and expert on COVID-19 testing on small and large scales, will talk about the vaccine’s distribution and lessons learned during the ongoing rollout.

The conversation will be moderated by Jonathan Agree, Associate Vice President and Chief Development Officer, School of Medicine & Health Sciences, Milken Institute School of Public Health, and the School of Nursing.
