D.C. Mondays: Past, Present, and Future of the Tidal Basin

Recently, five design proposals to protect the Tidal Basin from climate change were published for the Tidal Basin Ideas Lab. As designers, historians and Washingtonians look to protect the historic site for future generations, it is also important to examine how it functioned in the past. In this virtual talk, Eduard Krakhmalnikov from the Trust for the National Mall will explore the past, present and future of the Tidal Basin.
About Eduard Krakhmalnikov
Eduard Krakhmalnikov heads strategic programming and volunteer initiatives at the Trust for the National Mall. Prior to joining the Trust, Eduard managed the Cultural Landscape Foundation’s public education and research program. He received the Damaris Horan Prize Fellowship in Landscape History from the Royal Oak Foundation in 2014, resulting in multiple projects for the National Trust of England at Charlecote Park. Krakhmalnikov also developed programming plans for public spaces in Georgia, Wisconsin, North Carolina, Maryland, Minneapolis, and Shenzhen, China, at Biederman Redevelopment Ventures. He holds dual master’s degrees in landscape architecture and heritage conservation and preservation from the University of Minnesota.How to Participate
