Interactive LGBTQ+ History Tour

Event Description

Join fellow alumna Ella Schiralli, GWSB BBA '85, MBA '02 for an engaging virtual LGBTQ+ history tour and discussion celebrating the accomplishments of LGBTQ+ trailblazers and prominent figures in the LGBTQ+ Rights movement. Learn more about the queer community’s rich history and share your favorite stories to kickstart Pride! The first 50 event attendees will receive an LGBTQ+ face mask in the mail! To receive an LGBTQ+ facemask you must attend the event.

Ella Schiralli, GWSB BBA '85, MBA '02.jpgElla SchiralliGWSB BBA '85, MBA '02 is a Certified District of Columbia Tourist Guide with a passion for sharing the culture, the history and the modern vibrancy of our Nation’s Capital.  Ella values diversity and is passionate about leadership.  She has had the opportunity to work and volunteer in organizations that range from advanced homeland security solutions, public policy advocacy, to women’s military achievements, the performing arts and children’s advocacy.Ella enjoys being active and engaged in the community.  Ella lives in Takoma Park, Maryland with her wife Mary and golden retriever, Buddha.

Rainbow Tour Description

The Rainbow Tour is a virtual walking tour featuring the rich history of the gay community in our Nation’s Capital.  What we know and how we feel about the LGBTQIA2S community is informed by our cultural beliefs and experiences.  Trace the history of the gay community from Revolutionary war hero to modern day human rights activists.  Engage and explore how Washington, D.C. has been a pivotal location for the struggle for equal rights, learn how people, places and events shaped an accepting environment leading to the Marriage Equality landmark Supreme Court decision.
