Join us as a volunteer at the COTS Walk on Sunday, May 7, 2023!

Get involved before the Walk

Volunteers help give COTS facilities a spring cleaning before the Walk. They also help spread the word about the Walk by putting up posters, delivering Walk packets and making posters to decorate the Walk path.

Help with set up or clean up

For early risers, you can help mark the Walk route, set up tables and registration mateials or blow up balloons. For those who like to help after the crowds have disappeared, we need strong arms to help with clean up.

Be a crossing guard

We make sure to have crossing guards all along the Walk Route. These trusted volunteers help ensure the safety and security of all Walkers.

Help with Battery Park – from the kids' tent to registration

We have a large crew at Battery Park, who do everything from overseeing the kids' tent (with hand painting, crafts and other activities), to checking in walkers as they arrive.

Host Walkers at various stops on the Walk

Volunteers help host walkers as they arrive at the various COTS programs.

Counters and Data Entry

If you like counting and have fine attention to detail one of these roles might be a good fit for you. Help us track our Walkers' fundraising success! Familiarity with excel or google sheets is required for data entry volunteers, but not counters.

Earn Credit for Your Volunteer Hours

Students and City Market members who participate and volunteer for the COTS Walk can earn credit for their hours.

Why volunteer support matters so much

Our Housing Navigators were recently able to secure permanent housing for 10 COTS clients at the new Zephyr Place apartments in Williston. It took many meetings and a huge pile of forms to get them approved. One of the clients texted their housing navigator to say:

"It is so peaceful at my new apartment. My daughter loves visiting there. I am so grateful for all your help and support through this whole process. I definitely owe you big time – I finally have a place I can call home in the 4 years I have been in Vermont. Thank you so much."
